The AE workshop recently sent out another batch of aprons to the delightful Shells Surf Cafe. This is our local haunt for coffee and morning sweets. Its always lovely when Jane sends in her yearly apron order, a sign of Spring and preparation for the summer. Shells are a super busy seaside eatery and so their team of waitresses and waiters need a tough, smart apron to match.
Jane’s apron design was based around her café needs: durability, wash-ability and a good looking functionality. Shells turn their tables faster than you can say Café Latte and so the floor-staff always need a damp cloth handy for wiping tables. A waterproof pocket lined with tough Cordura provides a nice addition, keeping them from soaking through.
The result is a medium weight denim apron, in a dark navy wash. It comes in two lengths; short barista style and full-length workman’s. The apron ties are of a heavy-duty nylon webbing, with the top tie knotting through a large brass eyelet. The large front pocket panel has a waterproof section, isolating the damp cloth and a second section is a perfect fit for their delicious menu!
